

The film, set in the Adriatic Sea in the interwar period, begins with the titular character Porco Rosso, a veteran World War I fighter ace and freelance bounty hunter, responding to an alert over an attack on a ferry liner by airborne pirates. Porco Rosso spends his days relaxing in his hideout while taking freelance jobs. It tells the story of a valiant pig who fought against flying pirates, for his pride, for his lover, and for his fortune.
